Wendy J. Parmet has been practicing exclusively in the area of family and matrimonial law for over 40 years. In addition to handling divorces in New York from inception to conclusion, Wendy represents clients in negotiating prenuptial and postnuptial agreements and resolving post-divorce problems. She has also represented clients in interstate and international custody disputes and has served as court-appointed attorney for children of divorcing parents. 

Recognizing the importance of the mental health community in assisting families in crisis, Wendy is an active member and past Legal Co-Chair of the Interdisciplinary Forum on Mental Health and Family Law. She also understands and appreciates the role of alternate dispute resolution in resolving family law matters, where possible. Long committed to finding workable options for her clients, she was trained as a mediator in the early 1980’s and served as the Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Special Committee on Alternatives to Court Resolution of Disputes from 1988 to 1990.

Wendy graduated from the University of Michigan in 1969, and from Northeastern University School of Law in 1977. She is admitted to practice in New York, and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She is a member of the Interdisciplinary Forum on Mental Health and Family Law, the New York State Bar Association, the New York Women’s Bar Association and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC). Wendy is rated “AV” (the highest rating for both competence and ethics) by Martindale-Hubbell.

Wendy and her husband Marv have three children and four granddaughters. She enjoys lap swimming, photography, music and travel.
